Cabal - Unexpected

This story was one of my first and published on Amazon back in the day. Since that time, I have learned a LOT about writing and hopefully improved.

Below are the most recent renovations of this sad tale.

Book 1 - Unexpected

Emily's lifelong goal was to make her father's company successful, find love, and just live. Sadly, that wasn't in the cards. Charged with the murder of her entire family, Emily finds herself on the run with the real murderers on her tail.

Jim and Leo have been bounty hunters for eight years, a job they take very seriously. Rule Zero - never pick a 'mark' you're attracted to. Sadly, that's not in their cards. With a family loan past due and a mortgage to pay, the pair take on Emily's case (against Jim's wishes).

Even after she's proven innocent, she won't let anyone close because the killers are still on the loose, and little notes let her know that they want to turn her to their side of the line. They're impressed with her skills. The FBI are too, because she might be the secret weapon that will help them blow the Cabal apart.

Jim wants to love her; she wants to be loved, but when shooters could pop up any time, romance can't be in the cards and true love for Emily is pushing away anyone who might get hurt in the cross-fire.

Book 2 - Integration

Thanks to Emily and Jim, the FBI took down the foul president and his henchmen, except that wasn't the root of this evil. Cabal is back in her life and this time, they mean business. Emily is framed again, this time for the assassination of President Green, and the evidence is damning.

If she wants to help the FBI crack this nut, Emily will need to dig herself in deep. So deep, that the lines between right and wrong fade away, and even the FBI questions her alliances. So does Cabal. Trusted by no one, even herself, she walks the fine line with only one goal in mind - vengeance for the deaths of those she loves.

Book 3 - Comprehension

Emily and Jim's oldest son, Michael, grew up a little jaded. That's what happens when your mother is a mob boss and your father is an FBI agent. He's been waiting since he was five for her to snap and run away again, and even though she hasn't yet, he can see the signs that she's close to cracking.

When Michael ends up in the back of a van with his best friend, he assumes his mother's past is coming back to haunt them, but she may be the only chance he has to get out of this alive. Michael will have to face his long-harbored prejudice against the woman and through his own experience, see a little of her dark past before he can face the future. Who knew he was more like his mother than his father?
